Don’t Buy These Vegetables

Don’t Buy These Vegetables and save this photo!

The dirty dozen has been released for 2021 by the Environmental Working Group. Every year they release what are called the “Dirty Dozen” and the “Clean Fifteen”.

If you can, buy organic of these 12 items:

The EWG ranks the pesticide contamination of 46 popular fruits and vegetables. Don’t buy these vegetables and if you have to, choose organic. The guide is based on test results by the Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration of more than 46,000 samples of produce.

It is important to note that the samples are tested for pesticides after they have been prepared to be eaten. This means the produce has been thoroughly washed and, when applicable, peeled.  After these preparations, pesticide residues are still detected on many of the fruits and veggies.

Here are the clean fifteen!

In contrast, these are the fruits and veggies with the least amount of pesticides noted:

If organic is not in your budget, of course a backyard home garden of the dirty dozen will also do. Plus, then there is some extra love and appreciation for the food since you got to watch it grow.
