What is in your water?

As you can tell from the image above, water is important. Lakeville tests the water but there’s a lot of things they don’t test for.

They have good intentions and you can check out the latest here.

Medication is in our water system including birth control. We also have significant lawn fertilizer and farm runoff. Then we have fluoride added. Who is to say that a certain level is considered safe?

Moving into a different house made me aware of the difference in filtration. I try to drink half of my body weight in ounces. That seems to be where my body functions best and it’s what I recommend to my practice members. With each sip, I had an aftertaste - but not in a good way…

Thankfully, there are lots of water filters and filtration systems out there.  Make sure you read the reviews and do some research to see what they filter out.

We ended up getting an aquasana under sink filter. Now, our water has no taste.  You can read more about them here.

I have also heard good things about the Berkey. Find out more about them here.

This is just a starting point for us. A whole home filtration system is the long-term goal. You got to remember that we shower and bathe in the water as well. This is especially important because our skin is the largest detox organ and what we come into contact with also enters the body. We can’t live without water for a long period of time.

This blog is just to get you thinking about what makes sense for your family. It’s not about shaming but instead about education. Doing something is better than nothing. Even if you start with a fridge filter, that’s something! Start somewhere and do what you can.
